Food Additives

There are different food products available in the market, from food items like vegetables, to fruits, to packed food, raw food, spices, to food additives. From centuries food preservatives and flavors are used to preserve taste or flavor of different food items. Preserving fruits and vegetables by pickling (using raw spices, oil, and vinegar) is a common practice that is been done from generations. There are many more additives have been introduced, of both natural and artificial origin.

Food additives are called as Acidulates that give a sharp taste to foods. A wide range of acids, acidity regulators, antifoaming agents, bulking agents food coloring, food coloring, emulsifiers, flavors flavor enhancers, flour treatment agents, preservatives, stabilizers, sweeteners, thickeners, are used as preservatives in different food items.

As the food industry has developed so much, so has the growth in production of processed foods. By far the most important, versatile and widely used organic acid is citric acid. It is used in food products, drinks, etc.
